A 21-year-old Swiss guy, with a Spanish passport, living with his
parents in the area of Zurich,
Switzerland. He
traveled by himself to a two week vacation in Cancun. After
two weeks, he neither returned on the date indicated on his flight ticket, nor
made any changes to the flight ticket.
Acts performed by the family
A complaint was filed with the local police;
Notice was sent to the Interpol;
The Swiss Embassy and the Spanish Embassy were updated with details of
the matter and photos and passport numbers of the missing person were also sent
to them;
Inquiries were conducted with local hospitals and police stations in Mexico;
Approximately 21 money withdrawals, using the missing person's credit
cards were traced in various banks across Mexico City,
Cancun.
T.M.P. was contacted by the
family six months after the disappearance. A team from the company
arrived in Switzerland
and questioned the parents, sister, friends and neighbors.
A profile of the missing person
It became apparent, that prior to his trip to Cancun, the missing person
was part of an ongoing dispute with his father, and there was even a heated
argument between them two-three days before his trip, which led to a physical
confrontation (police were alerted).
A conversation with his sister taught us that the missing person was
extremely upset by the situation with his parents. The boy is a
native speaker of Spanish and German. He traveled to Cancun by himself. He has no family or
friends there.
The search activities
The team arrived in Cancun, set up a
local telephone call center for calls and telephonic information 24 hours a day;
The team gave out photos of the missing person with telephone numbers of
the call center all over the Cancun area;
The team responded and checked every call, questioned every caller and
checked any bit of information received about the missing person;
The team received information that he was picked up by volunteers
treating homeless junkies who slept on the street;
The team received information claiming that when he arrived in Cancun, he began taking ecstasy pills, was drugged and
robbed of all his things;
The team arrived on location, made a definite identification of the
young boy, hospitalized him for tests, while simultaneously arranging for a new
passport, a plane ticket, and later accompanied him back to Switzerland, up
to the point of reuniting him with his parents.
