Backpackers' trip
Our son is on a backpackers' trip overseas. He usually contacts us once
a week, but it has been eleven days since we last received a phone call or
e-mail from him. In our last conversation, he didn't mention he was leaving for
a trip that might take a few days. What should we do?
Proceed as follows:
1.
Try and check with his trip
partner's family, if he has a partner, if he/she made any contact.
2.
Try and check the location of his
recent call (with the phone company) and check if there are any treks paths in
that area which can take a number of days.
3. Send him an e-mail and ask him to
call home.
If he does not call a few days later, call the appropriate agencies
(insurance company, your embassy in the country he is traveling in, Foreign
Ministry etc).
